Custom connector

Clueless in Muse

Clueless keeps a record of the clothes you own. Add it to Muse as a custom connector, and Muse can look up and update your closet while you chat.

Clueless is not in Muse's connector directory yet. Join the list to hear when it is. Existing subscribers keep the same account.

What Clueless does in Muse

Muse handles the conversation. Clueless keeps the record and does the math.

  • Closet import: share order, shipping, or return emails, photos of your clothes, screenshots, or posts, and Muse adds each piece to your closet.
  • One record per piece. Resending a receipt never adds a duplicate, returns come off, and pieces that may belong to someone else are skipped or checked with you first.
  • Closet sync: pieces you add in Muse show up in the Clueless app once your account is linked.
  • Ask what you own, get an outfit from your own pieces, see cost per wear and gaps, and check a possible buy against what you already have. There is no shopping feed and no checkout.

Set it up in five steps

  1. Add a custom connector. In Muse, add a custom connector and paste this server URL: https://api.clueless.clothing/connector/mcp
  2. Sign in. Muse opens a sign-in page for Clueless. Use the account you use in the Clueless app, such as Sign in with Apple or Google.
  3. Approve read and write access. Read lets Muse look up your closet. Write lets it add pieces, fix details, and save outfits, wears, reactions, and style preferences.
  4. Get a one-time code if Muse asks for one. Open the Clueless app, go to Profile > Connect to Muse, and copy the code. This screen needs the latest version of the app (1.0.157 or later). The code looks like ABCD-EFGH-JKMN and expires after 10 minutes. If your sign-in already matches your Clueless account, Muse skips this step and the next one.
  5. Paste the code in Muse. Muse links your closet and tells you when it is done. Only paste a code into your own assistant.

Troubleshooting

The first request is slow or times out

Clueless sleeps when nobody is using it. The first request after a quiet stretch can take about a minute while the server wakes up. If Muse reports a timeout, ask again.

The code does not work

Each code works once and expires after 10 minutes. Get a new one in Profile > Connect to Muse. After 10 wrong tries, wait 10 minutes. If Muse says this sign-in is connected to a different Clueless account, disconnect it in the app first, then use a code from the account you want.

Muse can read your closet but cannot save to it

Muse has read access only. When it asks to approve access again, approve read and write.

Reconnect after disconnecting

Get a new code in Profile > Connect to Muse and paste it in Muse. If you removed the connector from Muse, add it again with the steps above.

Read-only access

There is no read-only option yet. It is planned. Until then, Muse asks for read and write access together.

Disconnect or delete your data

  • Ask Muse to disconnect Clueless. If you linked your Clueless account, Muse loses access and your closet stays in the Clueless app.
  • If you never made a Clueless account, asking Muse to disconnect deletes the closet Muse built and stops this Muse sign-in from using Clueless until you link an account.
  • In the Clueless app, open Profile > Connect to Muse and choose Disconnect next to the assistant.
  • Remove the custom connector from your Muse settings.
  • To delete everything, delete your Clueless account. That also removes every assistant connection and code. See Privacy Choices and Account Deletion.

Tools Muse can use

Clueless offers Muse 29 tools. Read tools only look. Write tools add or change pieces and save outfits, wears, reactions, and style preferences. A return or refund email can remove a piece. Sensitive tools delete data, and their instructions tell Muse to use them only when you ask. A question mark marks an optional input. The Returns column lists the fields Muse gets back.

Tool Access Inputs Returns What it does
start_closet_setup Read None stageaccountclosetchecklistnext_stepexisting_app_account Shows what is already in your closet and a short checklist of sources for your closet import.
wardrobe.search Read query?category?limit? items Finds pieces you own by name, brand, or category.
wardrobe.summary Read None itemsby_categoryby_sourcemissing_categoriesaccountwearsoutfitsmost_wornleast_worn Counts your pieces by category and by where they came from, plus your saved outfits and logged wears, and names your most and least worn pieces.
wardrobe.get_item Read item_id idnamecategory_groupcolor_familycolor_hexbrandsizetimes_wornimage_kindimage_urlsourcesproduct_urlnotespurchase_price Reads one piece by its id, including whether it has a picture and, for a store picture, its image link.
wardrobe.add_items Write messagesas_of?confirmed_line_keys? assembledaddedalready_in_closetremoved_returnshousehold_skippedneeds_confirmationneeds_detailsuntitled_linesimage_links_not_kept Adds pieces from order, shipping, return, refund, or exchange emails. Resending a receipt never adds a duplicate. A return or refund removes a piece that only that order line added. The store's product image link is kept, so the app shows the picture.
wardrobe.add_pieces Write sourcepieces addedalready_in_closetimage_links_not_kept Adds pieces from photos, screenshots, a social media data export, or things you say you own. A likely duplicate merges into the piece you already have. A store product image link you share is kept, so the app shows the picture.
wardrobe.update_item Write item_idname?category_group?color?color_hex?brand?size?notes? idnamecategory_groupcolor_familycolor_hexbrandsizetimes_wornimage_kindimage_urlsources Corrects one piece: name, category, color, brand, size, or notes.
wardrobe.remove_item Sensitive item_id idremoved Deletes one piece from your closet, in the Clueless app too.
wear.log Write item_idsworn_on? logged Logs that you wore one or more pieces, on a date if you give one. The wear is saved to your wear history in Clueless and counts toward times worn and cost per wear.
outfits.suggest Read occasion?season? occasionitems Suggests an outfit from pieces you own. It does not shop.
outfits.save Write item_idsname? id Saves an outfit you approved from pieces you own, with a name if you give one. It needs two or more pieces, or one dress. The outfit shows up with your outfits in the Clueless app.
wardrobe.today Read date?location?lat?lon?weather?range?occasions? dateweekdayweatherdress_codeplanned_outfitsoccasionsitemsrecent_wearsrepeat_risknot_worn_recentlycloset_countspreferencesoffer_routinesuggestion_hintdays Suggests an outfit for the day from pieces you own. It also shows any outfit you planned in the Clueless app, and the weather if Muse knows where you are. It lists what you wore in the last week and pieces you have not worn in a while. For the next seven days, it can show planned outfits and dress code for each day, and the weather for the days the five-day forecast covers.
today.brief Read date?location?lat?lon?weather?range?occasions? dateweekdayweatherdress_codeplanned_outfitsoccasionsitemsrecent_wearsrepeat_risknot_worn_recentlycloset_countspreferencesoffer_routinesuggestion_hintdays Does the same as wardrobe.today under its older name, which some assistants still use.
wardrobe.changes_since Read cursor?limit? changescursorhas_more Lists pieces added, changed, or removed since Muse last checked, whether the change came from the Clueless app, a receipt, or any assistant. The first check only sets a starting point, and a change shows up about a minute after it is made.
wardrobe.merges Read None item_countmerged_source_countmergesitems_with_merged_sources Lists pieces that were merged into one you already had instead of being added again, with the reason and when, so a lower piece count can be explained. It changes nothing.
outfits.feedback Write outfit_id?item_ids?verdictreasons?note? idverdictitem_ids Records how an outfit went: you wore it, liked it, skipped it, or disliked it, with optional reasons and a short note. Only a dislike changes suggestions: that combination stays out of outfit suggestions for 14 days. Saying you wore it does not log a wear; wear.log does that. It rejects a note with common words about the body, size, health, disability, or religion.
preferences.get Read None style_wordsavoid_colorscommute_modedress_code_by_weekdayroutine_opt_inroutine_timeroutine_answered_atapp_avoid_colors Reads the style preferences saved for your closet: style words, colors you avoid, how you commute, dress code by weekday, and whether you want a daily outfit and at what time. It also shows the colors you avoid in your Clueless app profile.
preferences.set Write style_words?avoid_colors?commute_mode?dress_code_by_weekday?routine_opt_in?routine_time? style_wordsavoid_colorscommute_modedress_code_by_weekdayroutine_opt_inroutine_timeroutine_answered_atapp_avoid_colors Saves style preferences you state, such as style words, colors to avoid, how you commute, dress code by weekday, or whether you want a daily outfit and at what time. It changes only the fields Muse sends, and a new list or set of weekday dress codes replaces the saved one whole. Colors to avoid are color families, such as orange or burgundy. It rejects common words about the body, size, health, disability, or religion as style words.
insights.cost_per_wear Read None centspriced_items Works out cost per wear from priced pieces and the wear counts in the Clueless app.
insights.gaps Read None gaps Lists core categories missing from your closet: tops, bottoms, shoes, or outerwear.
shopping.check_item Read url?description? category_groupown_similarmatches Checks a product link or description against what you own. It does not open the link and uses no affiliate links.
connector.setup_link Read client_idstatecode_challengesession_id? session_idapp_deep_linkuniversal_linkmuse_authorize_url Returns setup links: one for the Clueless app, a web link, and a sign-in link for Muse.
signals.list Read None signals Reads recent closet events, such as a finished closet import or a logged wear.
signals.record Write kinddirectionpayload? id Records one closet event.
account.link Read methodis_new_uid?continue_as_new?items?outfits?wears? actionuidwrote_itemsresolve_signindelete_new_uidpremiumgrandfathered Works out which Clueless account a sign-in belongs to. It does not change your closet.
connector.link_account Write code linkedlink_idmoved_itemsalready_in_closetuser_message Links Muse to your Clueless closet with the one-time code from the app.
account.welcome Read None itemsby_categoryby_sourcemissing_categoriesaccountwearsoutfitsmost_wornleast_worn Reads the same counts as wardrobe.summary: your pieces, saved outfits, and logged wears.
skills.index Read None repoinstallversionupdated_atskills Lists the Clueless skills Muse can load for closet and photo work, with how to install them and which tools each one uses. It reads nothing from your closet.
connector.revoke Sensitive None revokeddeleted_items Disconnects Muse from a linked closet, which stays in the Clueless app. Without a linked account, it deletes the closet Muse built.

Errors and limits

When a request fails, Muse gets an error code and a short message it can pass on. These are the ones you may see.

Error What it means
account_link_required This Muse sign-in was disconnected from Clueless. Get a new code in Profile > Connect to Muse and paste it in Muse.
link_code_invalid The code did not match. Check it and paste it again.
link_code_expired, link_code_used The code is older than 10 minutes or was already used. Get a new one.
link_conflict This Muse sign-in is connected to a different Clueless account. Disconnect it in the app first.
link_redeem_rate_limited Too many tries. Wait 10 minutes, then paste a new code.
missing_scope Muse tried to save without write access. Approve read and write.
not_found The piece is not in your closet. It may have been removed.
invalid_arguments Muse sent a request the tool could not use. Ask again in other words.

Limits

  • A one-time code expires after 10 minutes and works once.
  • The app gives out up to 5 codes per account every 10 minutes.
  • Muse can try up to 10 codes every 10 minutes.
  • Each account can make up to 600 requests per hour to the connector. Normal use stays far below this.
